What markers should be used with colorable clothing, and will the ink bleed?
We highly recommend using high-quality fabric markers (such as Tulip neon fabric markers) to customize your colorable clothes. Our garments feature premium 100% cotton fibers designed to capture ink crisply without bleeding, but placing a piece of cardboard inside the shirt while coloring is a perfect best practice to protect the back layer.
How do you set the colors so the custom marker artwork doesn't wash out?
Once your little fashion designer finishes coloring the shirt, let the ink air dry completely for 24 hours. To permanently lock in the vibrant colors before the first wear, iron over the colored area on a medium heat setting using a tea towel as a protective barrier, or tumble dry the garment by itself on high heat for 30 minutes.
What are the standard washing and long-term care rules for color-in clothes?
After the ink is heat-set, wash the garment inside-out in cold water on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Tumble dry on low or hang dry to optimize the longevity of the custom colors. Do not use bleach, and avoid abrasive stain removers directly over the custom hand-colored areas.
